For media requests regarding access to BBFC Archive files please let us have a list of the film titles you would like to research, along with their release dates. It helps us find the relevant documents for you if you are able to  give detail relating to the research being undertaken, or your reasons for the enquiry. We will then check the availability of each file and contact you to arrange an appointment for you to view the records at the BBFC.  The BBFC is not able to undertake any research into the contents of files on behalf of the media.

BBFC launches its Annual Report & Accounts 2016


In 2016 the BBFC age rated 1,075 films for cinema release, the most since 1957, proving that Britain continues to be a nation of film enthusiasts. In a year where almost twice as many films were released in cinemas compared to 2009, more films were rated 15 (401) than any other age rating.
